Why is data being collected?
1. for selection criteria where approved time standards are required
2. to develop long term athlete profiles
3. talent ID
4. to identify trends
Information Required
We need the following data without fail
1. Name of athlete
2. Name of coach, CC number to verify qualifications and email address
Note: Regarding coach credentials - for Quest for Gold purposes the
coach of record must be CERTIFIED Comp Intro in Triathlon or higher
3. Date of Birth - that means the day, month and year the athlete was born
4. Date the run, swim or race time was achieved
5. Distance and format (eg 5000m run on approved track)
6. link where the result can be verified or a letter from Triathlon Ontario ED approving the time trial
Data Collected
We will only be collecting swim and run data that can be verified. The link must be supplied in order to verify race results.
Results that cannot be verified will not be retained. Time trial attempts must be pre-approved.
Method of Collection
There are three types of data being collected
1. from approved swim and run events - triathlon races are not acceptable
a. Only swim events sanctioned as competitions or time trials by Swim Ontario will be accepted
b. Run courses must be certified by Athletics Ontario ie the run course must be verified
c. OFSSA results for swim and track events - this will include qualifying or regional events that conform to OFSSA requirements - Cross country races will not be accepted
2. from pre-approved time trials - see Quest for Gold Selection Criteria for the mandatory process and format
3. race results from races with confirmed, standard distances - typically draft legal format. Races could include provincials, nationals, Junior Series races, ITU Continental Cup/Pan Am Cup events, World Championship events

Who will have access to the data?
1. The database will be maintained on a confidential basis in the Triathlon Ontario office
2. Athlete data may be shared with future coaches or Triathlon Canada's High Performance Director with athlete approval
