Club Championships

Ontario Club Championship 2010

Overview:

The goal of the Annual Club Championship is to encourage the growth and development of the multi-sport Club system in Ontario and to encourage and promote friendly competition between clubs in a sanctioned environment. Prize money is awarded to assist Clubs with their financial obligations and to in-turn better serve their athletes.

The Club Championship now includes 3 categories:

·         clubs and training groups with less than 40 members 

·         clubs and training groups with 40 or more members 

·         youth (only) clubs

The Performance Category has been eliminated.

Events:

Adult clubs will contest for the Club Championship at Subaru Triathlon Series Guelph Lake I races on June 19 and 20.  All events will count.

Youth Clubs will contest for the Club Championship at Multisport Canada's Lakeside TriKids race on September 18.  All categories in the TriKids event will count.  Please note there is no Junior category.

Eligibility:

All OAT Sanctioned Clubs and their members are encouraged and eligible to compete at the  Club Championship. Only members listed on the official Club List maintained in the OAT office will be eligible to score for a club.

Scoring:

Participation points will be based on the percentage of eligible members of each club participating.(i.e. 60 members of a possible 100 members = 60% or 60 points for participation). The highest participation point total wins. All events at the race (e.g. Sprint, Olympic, Tri-A-Try) will count towards the participation point total.

Bonus Points: 

·         Volunteers:  10 bonus points will be awarded for each volunteer provided by a club at the Club Championship race to a maximum of 20 additional points ie 2 volunteers.  Verification from  the race director is required to qualify for Volunteer points.

·         Officials:  25 bonus points will be awarded to any club that provides an official for the Club Championship race.  Training will be provided on the day.  Pre-registration is required with OAT's Technical Administrator to qualify.


Awards/Prizes:

$1000 from OAT will be awarded in each category (<75, >75, Youth)

Money will be divided as follows in each category:

·         Ist place = $500        

·         2nd place = $300

·         3rd place = $200

Scoring Process:

·         Each club will provide OAT a list of participating members no later than October 1, 2010 using the Club Championship score sheet available through OAT.

·         in the Bonus points section each club will provide information regarding volunteers and/or officials provided

·         numbers will be verified by October  15, 2010

·         Winners will be posted to the OAT website no later than November 1, 2010

·         cheques will be mailed to the club on November 1, 2010
