Ontario Games Update - April 2010

Ontario Summer Games 2010 - April Update

The 2010 Ontario Summer Games will be held in Subdury Ontario on the week of August  11, 2010.

Schedule of Events

  • Athletes must arrive and check into the residence during the early afternoon of Tuesday August 11, 2010.  No exceptions can be made.
  • Opening ceremonies - Tuesday August 10 - evening.  Attendance is mandatory for all athletes
  • Course testing and practice - Wednesday August 11
  • Individual Events - Thursday August 12 - am
  • Team Event - Thursday August 12 - pm.
  • Medal presentations will be made at the race site immediately following the team event
  • Athletes will leave from the race site - early morning check out from the residence is required.

Registration - Updated registration forms will be required shortly.  We are waiting for the Games Committee to send us the required information.  When OAT receives it you will be notified. 

Accommodation for Parents and Familes - A block of 40 rooms for triathlon families has been arranged at the Hampton Suites.  This hotel is close to the athlete residence - about 20k away from the race site.  To book space please contact Merit Travel directly.  They can be reached at 1-866-885-8846.  Ask for Leah (Ext. 6900 ) or Kelly (Ext. 6904) 

Qualifying -  The last chance to qualify will be at  the Guelph Lake 1 Give-it-a-Tri event.    Early entry is advised as there is a cap on numbers.  Once the maximum number has been reached no exceptions will be made for athletes wishing to qualify for Ontario Games.

OAT MEMBERSHIP IS MANDATORY TO REMAIN ON THE QUALIFIED ATHLETES LIST OR TO SECURE ONE OF THE LAST SPOTS.  FAILURE TO RENEW MEMBERSHIPS FOR 2010 BY JUNE 1 WILL RESULT IN YOUR REMOVAL FROM THE LIST OF QUALIFIED ATHLETES.

All remaining positions and the wild card spots will be awarded at Guelph Lake.  Pre-registration will be required before athletes leave the race site.  A team fee of $100 must be attached to the pre-registration form of all newly qualified athletes.

Fees from previously qualified athletes - Requests for Entry fees will be sent out from the OAT office  some time in May.  Entry fees must arrive at the OAT office no later than June 4 to retain your spot.

Coaches/Managers - Each region will have a team manager or coach.  OAT is now accepting applications for these positions.  Application

Format - This event will NOT be a draft legal event as previousy advertised.  Unfortunately the road conditions and venue were not suitable.  OSG will be a NON-DRAFTING event.
