Ontario Summer Games 2010 - January Update
The 2010 Ontario Summer Games will be held in Subdury Ontario on the week of August 10, 2010.
Schedule of Events
- Athletes must arrive and check into the residence during the early afternoon of Tuesday August 10, 2010. No exceptions can be made.
- Opening ceremonies - Tuesday August 10 - evening. Attendance is mandatory for all athletes
- Course testing and practice - Wednesday August 11
- Individual Events - Thursday August 12 - am
- Team Event - Thursday August 12 - pm.
- Medal presentations will be made at the race site immediately following the team event
- Athletes will leave from the race site - early morning check out from the residence is required.
Registration - The OAT appointed Team Leader will register for all triathletes. Regional Coaches or managers will pick up keys and room assignments from the Team Leader and distribute them to the athletes in their care. Regional Coaches and Managers will be responsible for picking up the athlete registration materials and returning all keys etc. to the Team Leader.
Accommodation for Parents and Familes - a block of rooms for triathlon families is being arranged in a "team hotel" . Details will be posted when finalized - probably some time in February.
Qualifying - will be done on a regional basis. A maximum of 3 males/ 3 females will qualify at the regional qualifier. The province has been divided into 7 regions and each will have a designated qualifying event.
The final Qualifying race will be theGuelph Lake 1 Give-it-a-Tri event. Because the races is also included in the Club Championships it is expected to fill before race day! Early entry is advised as there is a cap on numbers. Once the maximum number has been reached no exceptions will be made for athletes wishing to qualify for Ontario Games.
All remaining positions and the wild card spots will be awarded at Guelph Lake. Pre-registration will be required before athletes leave the race site. A team fee of $100 must be attached to the pre-registration form of all newly qualified athletes.
Previously qualified and pre-registered athletes will be sent a request for the team fee prior to the final qualifying event ( before April 1). Any previously qualified athlete who has not submitted the required pre-registration form and paid the fee by noon on the Thursday preceeding the final qualifier will lose the spot. It will be filled at Guelph Lake 1
Team Event! New for 2010 will be a team event. Each region may put forward 2 teams of 3 - one male team and one female team. Incomplete teams will be allowed to race in the team event but may not win medals.
Coaches/Managers - Each region will also be allowed to bring a coach or manager. Parents of competing athletes are encouraged to apply. Regional coaches and managers will report directly to the OAT appointed Team Leader and must stay with the athletes in the residences. Preference will be given to NCCP qualified coaches. Applications will be requested sometime in late February or early March.
