SUMMARY:NCCP Youth Triathlon Coach - Toronto\, September 11-12\, 2021
DESCRIPTION:Triathlon Ontario is hosting an NCCP Community Youth Triathlon Coach course in Toronto\, Ontario on September 11-12. \nThis newly redesigned course is delivered in person\, in a two-half-day format\, with coaches delivering practices to youth athletes. \nCoaches will learn about coaching for youth vs. coaching for adults\, cover a variety of skill-building practices\, activities\, and games\, and practice with other coaches\, then plan and deliver their practices to actual kids and youth. \nPrevious participants tell us that besides learning a lot that can be applied to coaching for any age group\, coaching kids and youth was eye-opening\, surprising\, interesting\, and made them a better coach. \nIt’s also about the most fun you can have coaching. \nThis is the first of an updated Community Youth Triathlon course designed by longtime coach\, Certified Learning Facilitator\, and Master Coach Developer Michel Elibani. Coaches will have the opportunity to help develop and provide feedback on the course itself\, as well as some rare opportunities to work with some of the most active coaches in the province. \nBoth Parts 1 and 2 will be delivered\, giving coaches the opportunity to take the full course in a single weekend. \nPart 1 covers the module Coaching Beginner and Age Group Triathletes and will be delivered at the beginning of each session. \nPart 2 covers the modules Coaching and Assessing Triathlon Skills and Coaching to Events\, in a youth context. It will be delivered after Part 1 each day. \nCoaches can attend either Part 1\, Part 2\, or both. Coaches who have already completed Part 1 online need only be present for Part 2 each day. \nThis course is open to all Triathlon Ontario members\, though NCCP credit can only be granted to coaches age 16 or above. \n\nDates & Times:\nFull course: September 11-12\, 8am – 4pm. \nPart 1: September 11-12\, 8am – 11am. \nPart 2: September 11-12\, 11:30am – 4pm. \n  \nLocation: \nCherry Beach\, Toronto\, ON \n\n  \n \n  \n  \nDescription:\nCoaches will cover safety\, coaching philosophy\, planning workouts\, and designing programs specific to youth triathletes\, as well as coaching youth vs. adults. Coaches will try out their practices by coaching mini-workouts for their fellow coaches. On day two\, coaches will put their new skills to work by running safe\, fun\, and effective practices in swim\, bike\, run\, and transition for kids and youth. \n  \n  \n \nNCCP Community Triathlon Coach is the starting point for triathlon coaches\, and completion is the primary requirement to run a club\, workout\, clinic\, or camp sanctioned by Triathlon Ontario. \nThe triathlon coaching pathway has recently been updated\, so this is an all-new course featuring new material and an updated practical component. \nThe full course consists of Part 1 and Part 2. Coaches will need to complete both parts in order to be qualified. Part 1 includes the module Coaching Beginner and Age Group Triathletes. Part 2 includes the modules Coaching and Assessing Triathlon Skills and Coaching to Events. Part 2 can be delivered in either the adult or the youth context. During Part 2\, coaches will lead the mini-activities they planned in Part 1. \nThis course is one of those in the new Triathlon Community Coaching Pathway. As such\, it’s particularly suited for those coaches looking to coach beginner\, recreational\, and age-group athletes\, and those coaches working toward NCCP Community certification. This course\, in either the youth or the adult context\, is required to coach sanctioned triathlon workouts in Ontario. Though not required\, coaches are welcome to take both the youth and the adult version. \nThe outcomes of the NCCP Community Triathlon Coach program are: \n\nMake Ethical Decisions\nProvide Support to Athletes in Training\nPlan a Practice\nAnalyze Performance\nSupport the Competitive Experience\nDesign a Sport Program\n\n  \n  \n\nNCCP Youth Triathlon Coach Details\nFormat: Live\, in-person. Coaches will need to bring triathlon equipment and participate in physical activity. \nMembership: 2021 Triathlon Ontario Membership is required to register for this course. \nPrerequisites: Coaches should complete the following before the course begins: \n\nEnsure you can access your The Locker account at coach.ca;\nComplete the free eLearning activity NCCP Emergency Action Plan on The Locker.\n\nRecommended: Coaches will need to complete the following before running sanctioned workouts:\n\nNCCP Make Ethical Decisions;\nValid Criminal Reference Check (CRC) for Vulnerable Sector (VSS) or Enhanced Police Information Check (E-PIC).\n\nFacilitator: Michel Elibani \nCourse Length: \nPart 1: 6 hours;\nPart 2: (Youth Context) 10 hours;\nFull Course: 16 hours. \nCost: \nPart 1: $125\nPart 2: $175\nFull course: $250 \n  \n
