SUMMARY:NCCP Community Triathlon Coach Part 1 - Online
DESCRIPTION:Triathlon Ontario is hosting an NCCP Community Triathlon Coach Part 1 course online utilizing the Zoom platform. \nDates & Times: This course is offered in two sessions of four hours each over two days. All sessions are required in order to complete Part 1. \nDates Changed: \nSunday\, February 4\, 2024: 8:00am – 12:00pm;\nSunday\, February 11\, 2024: 8:00am – 12:00pm. \nThis course comprises Part 1 of the two-part course NCCP Community Triathlon Coach\, including the module Coaching Beginner and Age Group Triathletes. \nCoaches will cover safety\, coaching philosophy\, planning workouts\, and designing programs for triathletes. Part 1 prepares coaches to complete activity plans and Emergency Action plans in swim\, bike\, run and transition\, which will be used in Part 2. \nThis Part 1 session is completely online; no sport equipment is required. Coaches will need to dress comfortably enough to do a series of simple stretches and exercises. \nAs an online course\, this session is particularly suited for coaches who are located in remote areas or who would have to travel extensively to attend a course in the 401/400 corridor. \n  \n  \nUpdate\, January 24\, 2024: \nThis course is fully booked\, however we have added another course February 25 & March 3. Click here to register for the new course. \n  \n  \n \nNCCP Community Triathlon Coach is the starting point for triathlon coaches\, and completion of Parts 1 and 2 is the primary requirement to run a club\, workout\, clinic\, or camp sanctioned by Triathlon Ontario. \nThe triathlon coaching pathway has recently been updated\, so this is an all-new course featuring new material and an updated practical component. \nThe full course consists of Part 1 and Part 2. Coaches will need to complete both parts in order to be qualified. Part 2 includes the modules Coaching and Assessing Triathlon Skills and Coaching to Events and is delivered a one-day\, in-person course. During Part 2\, coaches will lead the mini-activities they planned in Part 1. \nThough open to all Triathlon Ontario members\, this course is one of those in the new Triathlon Community Coaching Pathway. As such\, it’s particularly suited for those coaches looking to coach beginner\, recreational\, and age-group athletes\, and those coaches working toward NCCP Community certification. \nThe outcomes of the NCCP Community Triathlon Coach program are: \n\nMake Ethical Decisions\nProvide Support to Athletes in Training\nPlan a Practice\nAnalyze Performance\nSupport the Competitive Experience\nDesign a Sport Program\n\n  \nNCCP Community Triathlon Coach Part 1 Details\nFormat: Online\, Zoom. Coaches must have the capability to participate meaningfully via the Zoom platform\, including a sufficiently-robust internet connection to support video and a reasonably distraction-free environment. A Zoom link will be provided by email prior to the course; coaches are required to perform any installation\, troubleshooting\, and familiarization with the Zoom platform prior to the course start date. Breakout rooms will be used and coaches are expected to participate in group activities and complete tasks. Cameras will be required to be on. \nMembership: Current Triathlon Ontario Membership\, or membership in your home province is required to register for this course. \nPrerequisites: Coaches should complete the following before the course begins: \n\nEnsure you have and can access a The Locker Account at coach.ca;\nComplete the free eLearning activity NCCP Emergency Action Plan on The Locker; and\,\nComplete the free concussion awareness course Making Head Way on the Locker.\n\nFacilitators: John Cameron\, Tanya Deeks \nCourse Length: 8 hrs. (Part 1) \nInjuries: We can accommodate almost any injury or limitation. Coaches with injury or athletic limitations should absolutely sign up – in fact\, recovery is a great time to take a coaching course. This actually improves the course\, as much of what coaches do relates to modifying exercises to accommodate injured athletes. For practical sessions\, we will asign groups of coaches based on similar ability. \nCost: $125.00 \n  \nUpdate\, January 24\, 2024: \nThis course is fully booked\, however we have added another course February 25 & March 3. Click here to register for the new course.

SUMMARY:Triathlon Officials' Course - PTO 1 - Gravenhurst
DESCRIPTION:Triathlon Ontario is looking for some dedicated people interested in giving back to the sport as Provincial Triathlon Officials. \nTriathlon Officials are volunteers who help run the sport\, keeping triathlon safe and fair for everyone.  It’s not an easy job\, but it offers a very rewarding experience and many unique opportunities for those with the interest\, attitude and energy required. \nTriathlon Ontario is offering a Provincial Triathlon Official Level 1 Course Saturday\, June 8th\, Gravenhurst\, Ontario.  This entry-level course is the first step on the officials’ development pathway and prepares candidates to officiate their first triathlon. \nNo previous experience is necessary\, although familiarity with the sport of triathlon is a definite asset.  The course is free\, and once fully qualified\, officials are provided a complementary Triathlon Ontario membership. \n  \nCourse Details\nProvincial Triathlon Official Level 1 (PTO1)\nSaturday\, June 8\,  7:00 am – 12:00 pm \nMuskoka Wharf Sports Field\, 861 Bay St\, Gravenhurst\, ON\nCost: Free \nTo bring: Pen\, note paper \nCandidates will need to complete the classroom session as well as job shadowing at two (2) provincially-sanctioned races in order to receive their qualification.  Candidates can choose to job shadow at any race\, however this course is scheduled so that interested candidates may complete their first job shadowing at the same venue the following day. \nCandidates will be provided a rule book and some nifty officials’ swag. \n  \n  \nWho should take this course?\nRace volunteers: If you’re the kind of person who volunteers at races\, why not so so in a professional capacity? \nFamily members: If you’re driving to races anyway with family members involved in the sport\, consider being right on the course as an official. \nLocal Organizing Committee members: You can really help your organization put on races by learning the official’s job. \nCoaches: This course is also recommended for prospective coaches\, not only because upcoming changes require all NCCP coaches to take it\, but also as valuable professional development. \nClub members: Qualified officials are also valuable members of any triathlon club\, who can be a great help to other members with rules and qualification questions. \nParatriathletes\, handlers\, and coaches: Paratriathlon has a lot of rules. If Ontario is to run paratriathlon races\, we need officials trained in Para. This course is the first step. \nMotorcyclists: Like to ride? Moto officials ride around the bike course\, looking out for athlete safety and the occasional drafting violation. It’s a great way to spend some time on your motorcycle while supporting a great sport. \n  \nWhat’s officiating like?\nOfficials start as Secondary Officials\, officiating different positions to help the Head Official.  Secondary officials might be on the mount/dismount line\, starting the swim\, watching for safety in transition\, or on the back of a motorcycle on the bike course. \nOfficials answer a lot of questions from athletes\, usually starting with “Do I have to…”  They help athletes find where they need to be\, solve problems\, and try to keep the race running smoothly.  Officials represent Triathlon Ontario\, and work with Race Directors and race staff to make sure races are safe and fair. \nOfficials often travel to races\, which means some very early mornings.  They often stay in town for two-day events.  Although they can choose which races they’d like to do\, officials are expected to officiate at at least a couple of races each year. \n  \nWhat’s available to Officials?\nOnce qualified Provincial Triathlon Official Level 1\, an entire development pathway is available. As officials gain experience\, they gain access to courses and training that lead to further qualifications and officiating at more elite races.  Some courses available: \n\nProvincial Triathlon Official Level 2 (Head Official)\nNational Triathlon Official\nContinental Triathlon Official\n\nTriathlon Ontario provides the gear required and a complementary membership for all active officials. \n  \nQuestions?\nFor questions about this course\, please contact Mike Mahoney\, technical@triathlonontario.com.

SUMMARY:NCCP Community Triathlon Coach Course - Part 1 - Online
DESCRIPTION:Triathlon Ontario is hosting an NCCP Community Triathlon Coach Part 1 course online on the Zoom platform. \nThis course comprises Part 1 of the two-part course NCCP Community Triathlon Coach\, including the module Coaching Beginner and Age Group Triathletes. \nPart 1 is delivered in an online format\, over four Sundays\, 8:00 – 10:00am\, for a total of 8 hours of instruction. \nCoaches will cover safety\, coaching philosophy\, planning workouts\, designing programs for triathletes\, and running practices. \nThis course is open to all Triathlon Ontario members. \nWe also welcome out-of-province coaches who are members of their home triathlon organization. Out-of-province coaches please email technical@triathlonontario.com to arrange registration. \nSunday\, January 25\, 2026: 8:00am – 10:00am;\nSunday\, February 1\, 2026: 8:00am – 10:00am;\nSunday\, February 8\, 2026: 8:00am – 10:00am; and\nSunday\, February 15\, 2026: 8:00am – 10:00am. \nPlease note that coaches will need to attend the entirety of all sessions to complete Part 1. \nThose completing Part 1 will be eligible to attend Part 2 (practical\, in-person). \n  \n  \n \n  \n  \n \nNCCP Community Triathlon Coach is the starting point for triathlon coaches\, and completion is the primary requirement to run a club\, workout\, clinic\, or camp sanctioned by Triathlon Ontario. \nThe triathlon coaching pathway has recently been updated\, so this is an all-new course featuring new material and an updated practical component. \nThe full course consists of Part 1 and Part 2. Coaches will need to complete both parts in order to be qualified. Part 1 includes the module Coaching Beginner and Age Group Triathletes and is delivered either online or in-person. Part 2 includes the modules Coaching and Assessing Triathlon Skills and Coaching to Events  and is delivered as a one-day\, in-person course. During Part 2\, coaches will lead the mini-activities they planned in Part 1. \nOpen to all Triathlon Ontario members\, this course is one of those in the new Triathlon Community Coaching Pathway. As such\, it’s particularly suited for those looking to get started as a triathlon coach\, and those coaches working toward NCCP Community certification. \nPrerequisites: Coaches should complete the following before the course begins: \n\nCreate or ensure you can access your The Locker account at coach.ca;\nComplete the free eLearning activity NCCP Understanding Rule of Two on The Locker;\nComplete the free eLearning activity NCCP Safesport – Direct Athlete Contact on The Locker;\nComplete the free eLearning activity NCCP Making Head Way on The Locker; and\nComplete the free eLearning activity NCCP Emergency Action Plan on The Locker.\n\n\nRecommended: Coaches will need to complete the following before running sanctioned workouts\, however they can be completed after Part 2:\n\nComplete NCCP Make Ethical Decisions & Online Evaluation.\nValid Criminal Reference Check for Vulnerable Sector (VSS) or Enhanced Police Information Check (E-PIC).\n\nFacilitators: Teresa Pitek\, Tanya Deeks. \nCourse Length: 8 hrs. \nCost: $125.00 \n  \n  \n \n  \nRegistrants will receive a confirmation email with details\, timings\, and links. \n  \nQuestions?  Please contact: \n  \nMike Mahoney\nTriathlon Ontario\ntechnical@triathlonontario.com
