SUMMARY:National Development Series - Ontario Zwift Time Trial
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to the first of Ontario’s races in the National Development Series! \nThe National Development series is an initiative of  Triathlon Canada and the Provincial Triathlon Organizations to give Junior and U23 athletes an opportunity to compete during pandemic shutdowns. Races are focused on short\, fast\, and technical racing. \nThough open to all Triathlon Ontario members\, races are intended to develop a clear national ranking through points assignment for Junior and U23 Athletes. \n  \nThis Ontario first in the series will be a Virtual Time Trial using the online cycling platform Zwift. \n  \nRegistrants will need the following: \n\ncurrent Triathlon Ontario Annual membership;\nbicycle with trainer;\ndevice running Zwift;\ninternet connection.\n\n  \nScheduling and Setup\nProvincial Development Coach Greg Kealey will contact registrants between the close of registration and the race in order to schedule each participant a spot in the race. \n  \nResults\nResults will be collected and validated by Triathlon Ontario\, then forwarded to Triathlon Canada for points assignment\, ranking\, and publication. Rankings are expected the Friday following each race in the series. \n  \nRegistration \nRegistration is free for Triathlon Ontario members. \n  \n \n\nNational Development Series\nThe NDS consists of a series of provincial and national events from May to September 2021. Please note that there is no parking available at the start of the TT. Please park your car at Badenoch Soccer Field. Here is the 4k route that you can ride to get to the start of the TT.\nTT instructions will take place 30 minutes before the TT start (at 9:45am)\nYour starting position will be announced during the TT instructions.\nParticipants will be staggered in 30 second intervals. The first participant will start at ~10:15am.

DESCRIPTION:Triathlon Ontario has partnered with the National Cycling Institute Milton (NCIM) to Offer a Youth & Junior Track Cycling Program at the Mattamy National Cycling Centre in Milton\, Ontario.\n  \nThis seven week track cycling program is specifically designed for youth and junior triathletes\, and is a unique opportunity to develop drafting\, bike handling skills and fitness in a world class facility during the winter months. \n  \nTriathlon Ontario strongly believes a facility such as the Milton Velodrome offers a significant advantage for enhanced development of Ontario triathletes. The facility offers the ability to develop critical bike handling skills necessary to be successful at the national and international level during a time when most triathletes are training on stationary wind trainers. \n  \nSession Details \nThe session is called “Youth Track for Triathletes” and runs from Dec. 16th through to Jan. 27th (times vary). The course is open to athletes ages 10-19 and includes track certification. Track specific bikes are available for rent\, free of charge for those that require a track bike. \n  \nThe course is run by NCIM’s track cycling coaches and the cost is $183.75 plus HST. Spots are limited to 25 and are on a first come first serve basis. \n

DESCRIPTION:– Hosted by Sudbury Triple Threat –– Development Day open to 12-19 year olds – \n  \nRegistration is now open a one day Provincial Development day on November 26th\, hosted by local youth club Sudbury Triple Threat. \n  \nProvincial Development Program initiatives provide Ontario’s youth athletes the opportunity to train under the guidance of Triathlon Ontario’s Provincial Coach\, within an enhanced training environment and a focus on developing skills and training vocabulary that is consistent with Triathlon Ontario’s development pathway and in keeping with best practices of the world’s leading National development programs. \n  \nThe November 26th development day is a coordinated effort between Provincial Coach Greg Kealey and the Sudbury Triple Threat Club. The Development day is intended on providing Sudbury and surrounding area triathletes and coaches exposure to Provincial leadership\, professional development opportunities for local coaches\, while also offering athletes from across the province the opportunity to train together\, learn and have fun. \n  \nSchedule \nBen Avery Athletic Centre (Laurentian University) \n7:00-7:30 am – Meet and Greet \n8:00-10:00 am – Swim Session (speed vs  stroke rate assessment\, critical velocity testing) \n10:30-12:00 am – Athlete and Parent Q&A session with Provincial Coach (athlete pathways\, coach and athlete training accountability\, athlete development) \n12:00-12:30 pm – Bike and Transition set up \n12:30 – 3:00 pm – Bike power profile\, fatigue resistance session run assessment and video\, off the bike/run cadence assessment \n3:00 – 4:00 pm – Wrap up session \n  \n  \n\n\n\n\nREGISTER HERE\n\n\n\n\n  \n  \nTriathlon Ontario\, through the Provincial Development Coach\, has developed a program to increase the number of training opportunities and locations in the province through a partnership program with youth clubs and youth programs.
