SUMMARY:Triathlon Ontario Draft Legal Provincial Championships
DESCRIPTION:Triathlon Ontario’s signature event\, the 2026 Provincial Championships will be held on September 5th once again at the International Flatwater Centre in Welland. \nThe format for the races are Super Sprints. There is both a strategic and logistic reason for this versus Sprint or other distances.  From a strategic perspective\, short fast racing promotes the development of tactics\, fast transitions\, speed and recovery (for those doing two heats). These are areas that both Triathlon Ontario and Triathlon Canada have identified as gaps in development in our national talent pool. From a logistic point of view\, having a shorter course allows for a smaller foot print\, allowing for an excellent spectator experience\, and providing an opportunity for relays\, which we are the only event in the province to provide. Being the only event offer relays provides the following opportunity to a wide demographic: World Qualifier for Age Groupers\, promotes inclusion and friendly competition among clubs\, provides opportunities for development pathway athletes to prepare for Mixed Team Relays events\, which are increasing in number at the World Triathlon level and has been an increasing focus of Triathlon Canada. \nThe Championships offer multiple exciting racing opportunities in a draft legal Super Sprint format. \n\nElite/U23 Cup Series Finale & Provincial Championships\nJunior Cup Series Finale & Provincial Championships\nYouth Cup (14-15) Series Finale\, Provincial Championships\nAge Group Super Sprint Provincial Championships\n\n  \n  \nInformal Course Familiarization – Friday\, September 4th (anytime) \nRace Kit Pick-up – Friday\, September 4th 5pm \nPre-race Meeting – Friday\, September 4th 6pm \nTransition Opening – Saturday\, September 5th 6am \nCertification – Please note that for the U15\, Junior\, and U23/Elite categories\, current Draft-Legal Certification is required. No certification is required for the Age Group race.
