The Triathlon Ontario Youth Cup Series is divided into age groups: 12-13 and 14-15. The 12-13 age group is non-drafting, the 14-15 age group is draft-legal.
Athletes will be awarded points according to their finishing place in their age group at each race in the series. In the 14-15 age group, additional points are awarded for placing at Provincial Championships. In the 12-13 age group, all races are scored equally.
Athletes’ top four finishes will count for points towards the Triathlon Ontario Youth Cup Series Championship for the 12-13 age group and top three finishes for the 14-15 age group.
In the event of a tie in the 14-15 age group, tied athletes will be ranked in order of their finish at Provincial Championships. In the event of a tie in the 12-13 age group, athletes will be ranked in order of their finish at the last Youth Cup race of the season. If neither athlete participates in that event, the deciding race will be the first race of the season in which both athletes participated.
At each race, the male and female first, second, and third-place finishers in each age group will be awarded Triathlon Ontario Youth Cup gold, silver, or bronze medals, respectively.
The male and female Series Champions in each age group will be awarded the Triathlon Ontario Youth Cup at the Triathlon Ontario Awards.
In order to race in the 14-15 (draft-legal) age group, athletes must be draft legal certified prior to the event.
In draft-legal races, draft-legal equipment rules apply. Be sure to check that your bicycle complies with the rules. Clipless pedals, with or without recessed cleats, are legal for both age groups.
Racing up in age is not permitted in any Cup Series race.
