Rule Update – Disk Brakes on Road Bikes

Disk Brakes on Road Bikes Still Illegal in Triathlon/Duathlon

There has been a lot of discussion about road bikes and disk brakes recently in the news and on blogs. Triathlon Ontario would like to confirm that its policy has remained unchanged. Disk brakes on road bikes are still considered illegal equipment and will not be allowed in triathlons or duathlons at sanctioned races in the Province.

Disk brakes are permitted on mountain bikes, whether that be for Cross Triathlon/Duathlon or if someone were to compete in a road triathlon/duathlon on a mountain bike. If there are any further questions please contact the Triathlon Ontario office.

10th & Final Year for Joe’s Team Triathlon/Duathlon
