– Course is the second in series of online continuing education for NCCP triathlon coaches –

October 28, 2015Triathlon Ontario, the recognized Provincial Governing Body of Multisport in Ontario, launched the second part of its series of online continuing education coaching courses for NCCP trained triathlon coaches. “Introduction to Swimming for Triathlon”, taught by Mike Rutledge, is the follow up course to last year’s “Exercise Physiology for Triathlon”, taught by Dr. Greg Wells.

As previously announced, Triathlon Ontario has partnered with Dr. Greg Wells to co-produce a series of online continuing education courses for those trained or certified NCCP coaches that were looking to enhance their knowledge and skill sets. The objective of an online series was to make the course easily accessible to every interested coach across the province.

The Introduction to Swimming for Triathlon course consists of eight lectures taught by Mike Rutledge. Mike has over 30 years of experience in the area of competitive swimming both as an athlete and coach. As an age group athlete Mike was heavily involved in competitive swimming at the National and International level, competing as part of the Canada Games Team and Olympic Development Team. Mike earned a full scholarship to Texas A&M University where he competed as a competitive swimmer for four years. Mike has also been Provincial Champion as a Masters athlete in both cycling and swimming and also owns the current Canadian Record in the 800m free for swimmers aged 35-39.

As a coach, Mike has spent over 20 years involved both swimming and triathlon for age group and masters athletes. He has regularly lead swimmers to Provincial and National championships and continues to produce athletes that can reach that potential.
