December 9, 2015Triathlon Ontario, the recognized Provincial Governing Body of Multisport in Ontario, announced as part of its 2015-16 Provincial Development Program, Triathlon Ontario is offering Youth, Junior and U23 athletes an opportunity to train with Provincial coaches at the Nepean Sportsplex for a three day camp from Tuesday December 29th-Thursday December 31st, 2015. The camp lasts from 9am – 4pm each day. Space is limited to 40.

The daily schedule will consist of:
Swim 9:30-11:30am
Lunch 11:45-12:15pm
Run – 12:30 – 1:15
Bike 1:45 – 3:15pm
Core Strength/Post workout stretching 3:20-3:45

As part of the registration package athletes will be receiving, singles of Infinit Nutrition’s Jet Fuel, a Triathlon Ontario water bottle and complimentary Jet Fuel will be available for the athletes throughout the day.

November 16, 2015Triathlon Ontario, the recognized Provincial Governing Body of Multisport in Ontario, announced its 2015 Award winners, which will be recognized at its social and year end awards celebration on December 5th, 2015, at McMaster University.

The awards celebration is part of a greater triathlon celebration that includes Series Awards over breakfast with Trisport Subaru Triathlon Series and then lunch with MultiSport Canada Recharge With Milk Triathlon Series and their Series Awards. During the day Personal Best is putting on a series of clinics and guest speakers that has something for everyone.

The evening will start with a cocktail party and social from 5:30-6:15pm followed by an evening (6:15-8pm) hosted by Steve Fleck with special guest speaker, Melissa Bishop. November 3, 2015Triathlon Ontario, the recognized Provincial Governing Body of Multisport in Ontario, announced it has once again partnered with the Canadian Sport Institute Ontario (CSIO) to offer a world class Open Water Swim Clinic specifically designed for Age Groupers on November 21st.

This is Part 1 of 2 clinics designed to offer Age Groupers 16 years and older the rare opportunity to experience the multi-million dollar Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre while working with CSIO’s Olympic level coaches, bio-machinist, nutritionist and to meet and pick up tips from Canadian Olympic Open Water swimmer Zsofi Balazs. The second clinic featuring more advanced skill work will be offered in the New Year.

The day will begin at 1:45pm – concluding at 7pm and will include swim and video analysis (individual and group review), a nutritional seminar, two swim sessions that will feature lots of technique and open water drills, as well as a talk by Zsofi Balazs, London 2012 10km Open Water Olympian.

As part of the registration package athletes will be receiving a pair of Vorgee Missile goggles, Singles of Infinit Nutrition’s Jet Fuel and Repair, a Triathlon Ontario water bottle and silicon swim cap ($60 total value).

Additionally, there will be complimentary Jet Fuel and Repair available for the athletes throughout the day.

The price for the day will be $160. For an additional $50, athletes can order a DVD recording of their stroke with personalized analysis by CSIO’s bio-machinist.

October 30, 2015Triathlon Ontario, the recognized Provincial Governing Body of Multisport in Ontario, announced as part of its 2015-16 expanded Provincial Development Program, Triathlon Ontario is offering Youths aged 12-15 and Juniors aged 16-19 an opportunity to train with Provincial coaches at the Nepean Sportsplex on Saturday November 28th, 2015 from 10 am – 4:30 pm.

The day will begin with an outdoor group run from 10 am to 10:45 am. The rest of the day will be swim technique focused with two in pool sessions from 11:30 am to 1 pm and then 3 pm to 4pm. Between swim sessions there will be a swim technique seminar covering triathlon focused swim processes, suggested drills and equipment, video examples as well as a recovery and nutrition seminar. Space is limited to 16, so athletes will receive sufficient one-on-one attention.

Athletes are expected to arrive at 9:45 am and the day will be finishing around 4:30 pm. Athletes will be responsible for their own food and snacks throughout the day.
As part of the registration package athletes will be receiving a pair of Vorgee Missile goggles, Singles of Infinit Nutrition’s Jet Fuel and Repair, a Triathlon Ontario water bottle and silicon swim cap ($60 total value).

– Course is the second in series of online continuing education for NCCP triathlon coaches –

October 28, 2015Triathlon Ontario, the recognized Provincial Governing Body of Multisport in Ontario, launched the second part of its series of online continuing education coaching courses for NCCP trained triathlon coaches. “Introduction to Swimming for Triathlon”, taught by Mike Rutledge, is the follow up course to last year’s “Exercise Physiology for Triathlon”, taught by Dr. Greg Wells.

As previously announced, Triathlon Ontario has partnered with Dr. Greg Wells to co-produce a series of online continuing education courses for those trained or certified NCCP coaches that were looking to enhance their knowledge and skill sets. The objective of an online series was to make the course easily accessible to every interested coach across the province.

The Introduction to Swimming for Triathlon course consists of eight lectures taught by Mike Rutledge. Mike has over 30 years of experience in the area of competitive swimming both as an athlete and coach. As an age group athlete Mike was heavily involved in competitive swimming at the National and International level, competing as part of the Canada Games Team and Olympic Development Team. Mike earned a full scholarship to Texas A&M University where he competed as a competitive swimmer for four years. Mike has also been Provincial Champion as a Masters athlete in both cycling and swimming and also owns the current Canadian Record in the 800m free for swimmers aged 35-39.

As a coach, Mike has spent over 20 years involved both swimming and triathlon for age group and masters athletes. He has regularly lead swimmers to Provincial and National championships and continues to produce athletes that can reach that potential.

Triathlon Ontario will be celebrating its Provincial Champions, Cup Series and Award winners over dinner with special guest speaker Melissa Bishop, 2015 800m World Silver Medalist.
