Triathlon Ontario’s signature event, the 2026 Provincial Championships will be held on September 5th once again at the International Flatwater Centre in Welland.

The format for the races are Super Sprints. There is both a strategic and logistic reason for this versus Sprint or other distances.  From a strategic perspective, short fast racing promotes the development of tactics, fast transitions, speed and recovery (for those doing two heats). These are areas that both Triathlon Ontario and Triathlon Canada have identified as gaps in development in our national talent pool. From a logistic point of view, having a shorter course allows for a smaller footprint, allowing for an excellent spectator experience, and providing an opportunity for relays, which we are the only event in the province to provide.

The Championships offer multiple exciting racing opportunities in a draft legal Super Sprint format.

  • Elite/U23 Cup Series Finale & Provincial Championships
  • Junior Cup Series Finale & Provincial Championships
  • Youth Cup (14-15) Series Finale, Provincial Championships and Ontario Summer Games Qualifier

Join Olympic Coach Barrie Shepley & C3 Volunteers & High-Performance Team for the C3  Kids of Steel Triathlon on Saturday, May 24 at the Mayfield Swim Complex.

The event has occurred for 20+ years and is in a pool, with a 1.5km closed road and 800m run pathway closed too runners. We have volunteers who have done the same jobs for many years. We have police on closed roads. They are swimming in a pool. We can see every child for 90% of the course . A hospital is nearby and we have a nurse and likely doctor on site. Most volunteers have done their jobs 4-5-10x over the years. While you are never without risk, we are confident in our past track record to execute a safe-fair event.
